Engineering Manager
Employment Type: Permanent Employment | Location: Lagos, Nigeria.
Reports To: Asset Manager
Interacts with: Management and staff | Third party vendors, government and regulatory bodies


Job Purpose:

Oversee and co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to ensure the safe and on-schedule execution of production operation projects across all the field production units for optimal asset performance.


Responsibilities and Key Objectives

Duties include:

      • Provide Technical Authority (TA) support for engineering, relevant maintenance disciplines, projects, and Management of Change (MOC) process.

      • Manage Conceptual, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Engineering Design (DED), fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities for integrated projects.

      • Evaluate and improve the performance of existing facilities to optimize production and minimize costs.

      • Ensure facilities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential safety or environmental hazards.

      • Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure facilities are operating efficiently and effectively. This includes the inspection and recertification of process vessels, tanks, safety valves and piping.

      • Provide engineering support to relevant teams during pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up of oil and gas processing plants.

      • Develop applications and fully implement risk and reliability management techniques, like RBI, RCM and IPF.

      • Manage interfaces and collaborate with Petroleum Engineering, Field Operations, third party contractors and other departments such as Contracting & Procurement (C&P), EHS, Finance etc.

      • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, codes, statutory activities, standards and company policy/procedures/work instructions.

      • Work with external stakeholders (regulatory agencies) to ensure timely approvals of project documents, permits and licenses.

      • Collate input from all disciplines and the field operations team for the asset team’s yearly budget preparation and business plan development.

      • Provide active mentoring to engineers in specific disciplines on standard engineering best practices and project management.

Education:

 

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or any relevant engineering discipline from a reputable higher institution.

 

  • A minimum of Second Class Upper grade.

  • A Second Class Lower grade can be considered for candidates with advanced degrees ( MSc, MBA, or equivalent).

  • A PMP/any recognized project management training and certification will be an added advantage.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • At least 15 years’ requisite experience in maintenance, engineering design and asset integrity management.

  • Have detailed knowledge on multi-disciplinary team management including electrical, process, mechanical, facilities and instrumentation & control.

  • Able to demonstrate in-depth understanding of oil and gas process plant facility documentation including P&ID, PFD, Isometric, Piping drawings, Single Line Diagram, HAZID/HAZOP and incident reporting.

  • Advanced knowledge of engineering and maintenance systems, activities, quality and technical assurance systems, change management and waiver/query management.

  • Proven experience in maintaining rotating equipment, process and mechanical systems (particularly turbines, generators, compressors, boilers, heaters, pumps and cranes).

  • Must have demonstrable competence in the use of the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), integrated enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems and Inventory management.

  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

  • In-depth understanding of process improvement and optimization disciplines, tools, and techniques.

  • In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, standards, codes, compliance, and risk management.

  • Extensive experience with a variety of standard electrical, mechanical or control equipment.

  • Proven track records in upstream oil and gas engineering projects management and execution.
